Flowers of Hopeproject: Can you believe this is our 12th annual project!? Please click HERE for a flyer about the exhibit and reception ~ feel free to copy and post wherever! And don't forget to mark the reception date on your calendars ~ we want to see you all there! We received information from BCAT on August 6 detailing the number of Pinebelt area breast cancer patients celebrating their first year of survivorship this October, and we will need a total of 22 panels in order to include each of these local patients in our annual Flowers of Hope project. Some of you have already signed up to participate in this year's project, and we are so grateful for your continued support of this community effort! However, so I will know if I should be REALLY freaking out now, if you are going to participate by making an 8" X 8" stained glass panel featuring a flower for the project, please, please, please let me know as soon as possible! We have patterns available, or you can design your own ~ we just ask that it feature a flower design, it be 8" X 8" in size, and that it be received in the studio ready for hanging by not later than September 23. And again, thank you all for helping keep this project alive for the past 12 years!
Glass Prices: We have received updates from Spectrum, Uroborus, and Bullseye about glass prices going up ~ no surprise there! However, they are all suspending production of the pinks and purples/lavenders that are manufactured using rare earth materials (mostly erbium). They are also tying prices for cranberry-based colors to the world gold market ~ in the past, the manufacturers have let the prices for these colors ride and adjusted them only on a semi-annual basis. Given the rapid fluctuation in gold prices, the manufacturers no longer can follow this practice. We have some of these colors "stockpiled" from earlier orders, but we may not be able to replace them until costs come down. As always, if you really need one of these colors, we will try to find it for you, but we wanted you to be aware that the costs have risen quite a bit on them!
We're working on a new email list, and a new email address ... will keep you posted on both! In the meantime, come see us ... we have a great new coffee maker, so the coffee is always fresh & hot! Take care & happy glassing!
